Meditation Teacher

We are a small group of Buddhists and non-Buddhists. In a normal meditation session, we sit in a circle and I guide a meditation that lasts approximately 25 minutes. It is followed by a discussion about the practice. (Total running time is 90 minutes).

I aim at building a welcoming environment that allows for a feeling that we are all in this together and can learn from each other. I am also available for one-on-one mentoring around building a routine daily meditation practice if that is requested.

I was first introduced to these practices in 2000 during my full-time activist days, but made my deepest connection a few years later on a 100-day silent meditation retreat. When the retreat became too difficult, I used this practice to hold myself as a mother would a child. I was drawn to this practice by it’s simplicity and effectiveness. It strengthens my ability to recognize and accept all parts of myself, while increasing my awareness of what others are going through. This has led me to a place where I am more easily able to be present to the suffering of myself, those around me, and the world.
