I’ve been doing Natural Wisdom and Compassion practice for several years and recently began to lead the practice in the newly formed New York City NWC meditation group. As my experience with the practice has evolved, I find myself, throughout the day, tapping into the energy of love that continuously surrounds all of us. When I’m feeling a particular need to rest in this loving awareness, I stop and breathe it in, whether I’m sitting behind my desk, riding the train, or rocking my son to sleep. The more I do the meditation, the more accessible this loving energy seems to be, or rather, the more aware I become of its constant presence. This practice has also helped me to understand that it is my relationships – to family, friends, acquaintances, strangers, to my surroundings, my experiences, to society and to the planet – that give meaning and fullness to my life. My life has taken many twists and turns since I set out on this path, leading me in directions I never expected. I now find life to be less predictable and more thrilling than before, and I believe that is largely because of the ways the NWC practice has informed my life.
